How old does my dog need to be, and what about shots?Puppies can start as young as 10 weeks old and there is no such thing as a dog too old to come to class! Puppies must have at least 2 sets of shots and adult dogs must be current on all shots, including rabies.
-
Can more than one person in my family attend training class? We currently welcome two people per dog in our training classes. Having two people come to training class means that both people hear what the trainer says, and can get their questions answered. When everyone is on the same page, you gain the consistency that your dog needs to succeed!
-
Do I just leave my dog with the trainer or do I stay? While our trainer would love to spend class time snuggling your dog, you are required to stay during the entire training session. Our training sessions are designed to begin the behaviors during class so that you can continue to practice with your dog at home. This ensures that your dog listens to you, and not just our trainer. This excludes daycare training where you drop your dog off at unleashed for daycare play and our trainer works with them during their visit!
-
What should I bring to class?Treats! You want to bring small, soft, chewy treats for training class (look for something pea sized). Your dog will need a collar, and a leash (no retractable leashes, please!!). Harnesses are also allowed, as long as they fit well and your dog cannot slip out of them. For the owners, having a treat pouch you can wear as a belt or hook on can provide a great way to keep your hands free during sessions.
-
Are there any breeds you don't allow in class? We do not discriminate by breed! All dog breeds, big and small are welcome in our classes. We love dogs of all types!
-
Can you keep my dog and train him?Unfortunately, no. We do not have the capability of doing so. While the temptation to drop a dog off with a boarding facility and have them trained is a big one, there are many risks involved with this sort of training. If you are considering this type of facility, make sure you are allowed to make unscheduled owner visits, take a tour and see how the dogs currently there react to the trainers, and make sure they do not use choke chains, prong collars or any type of electric collars (even if they "only tickle" the dogs with them). Training is best done by the owners, so your dog knows how to listen to you, and you both understand how to communicate with each other.

Do you do potty training? We sure do! You have two options for learning how to potty train your dog. We have our New Puppy Online class where you can follow along with the videos and learn in the comfort of your own home, for a great price. If you'd like to have a personalized potty training plan, you can book a private class with any of our trainers. We can give you a plan that is designed around your home environment and schedule. Our trainers can teach you about kennel training, how to get your puppy to ring bells to let you know they have to go potty, the best clean up and prevention. We even have a potty training flow chart that you can take home and use as a quick reference!
-
Do you use shock, prong or choke collars? We say "No" to tools of the past! Our trainers use the most up-to-date training techniques which do not rely on pain to force your dog to obey. Tools like shock collars, prong collars and choke collars have all been researched and are shown to cause fear and aggression in dogs. Instead, we use positive reinforcement dog training which increases your bond with your dog as well as engage them mentally and physically, making training fun and enjoyable instead of scary and painful. Our training techniques lead to a happy, confident and relaxed dog!
