Positive reinforcement training is a method that rewards desired behaviors to encourage them to be repeated. It focuses on rewarding your dog with treats, praise, or toys when they perform a desired action, making training enjoyable and effective.
Yes, older dogs can learn new training techniques. While it may take a bit more time and patience compared to training a puppy, positive reinforcement methods work effectively for dogs of all ages.
Puppies can start as young as 10 weeks old and there is no such thing as a dog too old to come to class! Puppies must have at least 2 sets of shots and adult dogs must be current on all shots, including rabies. Your vet can email your shot records directly to us at

Treats! You want to bring small, soft, chewy treats for training class (look for something pea sized). Your dog will need a collar, and a leash (no retractable leashes, please!!). Harnesses are also allowed, as long as they fit well and your dog cannot slip out of them. For the owners, having a treat pouch you can wear as a belt or hook on can provide a great way to keep your hands free during sessions.
We sure do! You have two options for learning how to potty train your dog.
We have our New Puppy Online class where you can follow along with the videos and learn in the comfort of your own home, for a great price.
If you'd like to have a personalized potty training plan, you can book a private class with any of our trainers. We can give you a plan that is designed around your home environment and schedule. Our trainers can teach you about kennel training, how to get your puppy to ring bells to let you know they have to go potty, the best clean up and prevention. We even have a potty training flow chart that you can take home and use as a quick reference!
While our trainer would love to spend class time snuggling your dog, you are required to stay during the entire training session. Our training sessions are designed to begin the behaviors during class so that you can continue to practice with your dog at home. This ensures that your dog listens to you, and not just our trainer.
This excludes daycare training where you drop your dog off at unleashed for daycare play and our trainer works with them during their visit!
Do you train Therapy or Service Dogs?
Our classes are obedience classes which works for potential Emotional Support animals, Therapy dogs and Service dogs. However, we do not train tasks required for service dogs. We do work with our local Love on a leash Therapy dog group and provide testing for them.
If you are unsure what the difference between these three, please watch our free video here or click here to view the pdf that displays the differences
Every dog is different and learns at their own pace but the time it takes to train a dog using positive reinforcement varies depending on the dog's age, breed, and the consistency of training. However, most dogs start showing improvement within a few weeks of regular training sessions.
